Controller: Rote Land, on behalf of the owner of Neala, Rote Ndao, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Contact: the enquiry form at roteland.com/#contact

Who this is

Rote Land (roteland.com) is the website for Neala, a beachfront land parcel on Rote Island, Indonesia, and for two guides about the island and about buying land there. It is operated by the owner of that parcel.

For the purposes of Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law 27/2022) and, where it applies, the EU and UK GDPR, the controller of the personal data described here is the owner of the parcel, acting through this site. The owner's legal details are provided to anyone exercising a right under either law; ask through the enquiry form and the reply comes from the owner.

What we collect, and why

The enquiry form asks for your name, email address, country, purchase timeframe and message. We use them for one purpose: to reply to you about the land. The legal basis is your consent, given when you send the form, and our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you chose to make.

The form also records the time it was sent and the network address it came from. These are used only to reject automated submissions and are not kept with your enquiry.

If you contact us on WhatsApp, Meta processes that conversation under its own terms; we see the message you send.

Analytics, only if you allow it

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets no cookie and stores no identifier until you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. If you choose "Only necessary", Google receives cookieless, aggregated signals and nothing that identifies your browser.

When allowed, Google Analytics sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies for up to two years and records page views and a few named events: an enquiry sent, the aerial video played, a WhatsApp click. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. You can change your choice at any time through "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Where your data goes

Enquiries are delivered by Amazon Web Services (Simple Email Service) to the owner's mailbox. The site itself is hosted on AWS Amplify. Analytics data, when you allow it, is processed by Google. Each of these providers processes data on servers outside Indonesia under their own safeguards.

We do not sell personal data, share it with agents or brokers, or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as the land is for sale and for up to two years after, so that a conversation can be resumed. The anti-spam record of time and network address is discarded within an hour. Analytics data follows Google Analytics' retention setting, which is fourteen months.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, withdraw consent, or object to processing. Under Law 27/2022 we answer within the statutory period; under the GDPR within one month. Send the request through the enquiry form, from the email address you used, and say what you are asking for. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything that would affect what we collect or why will be shown in the cookie banner again.

This notice is written in plain English rather than legal form. Where it and the law differ, the law applies.
